A clear principle

When we founded MRSÉY in 2018, one principle was particularly important to us: no animal should die for our products. We researched endlessly topics such as recycled leather or leather as a 'waste product of the meat industry' (spoiler: unfortunately a myth), but our gut feeling continued to be confirmed and our decision became clearer and clearer: MRSÉY products must only be made from vegan leather.

What does "PETA Approved Vegan" mean?

We are proud of this very conscious decision and think it's time to make it known. That's why MRSÉY is now "PETA-Approved Vegan"!

The "PETA-Approved Vegan" certification is a rigorous testing procedure in which our products and their manufacturing processes are checked for the absence of animal ingredients and animal testing.

Our brand new PETA-Approved Vegan Logo now helps consumers shop with a clear conscience and recognizes MRSÉY as a brand that thinks forward and acts compassionately.

Vegetable leather or PU leather?

Before our launch, we put all kinds of vegan leather through their paces. Apple leather, cactus leather, corn leather - there are so many options now. However, we didn't feel good about using valuable agricultural land to produce cell phone cases - especially since the raw materials for this often come from countries where food is scarce. Unfortunately, vegetable leather isn't durable enough for what our cell phones have to endure and therefore didn't stand up to our tests. That's why we decided on PU leather (polyurethane leather).

Advantages of PU leather

This was not an easy decision, as every material has advantages and disadvantages - especially with regard to the environment. However, here are some advantages that convinced us to choose PU leather:

• Animal friendly : No animals have to suffer to produce your phone case.
  
  
• Environmental impact : The production of PU leather has a smaller environmental footprint than that of genuine leather. For example, the production of 1 kg of PU leather causes an average of 6.4 kg of CO2 equivalents, while 1 kg of cowhide leather releases about 17.0 kg of CO2 equivalents.
  
  
• Easy to care : PU leather is easier to clean and maintain than real leather - great for phone cases.
  
  
• Cost Efficiency : PU leather is usually cheaper than genuine leather, which means we can offer you our products at lower prices.
  
  
• Durability : High-quality PU leather can be as durable as real leather. This is especially important for products like phone cases that are subject to extreme wear and tear.
  
  
• Water Resistance : PU leather offers better water resistance than genuine leather or vegetable leather: perfect for protecting your electronics.
  
  
• Weight : PU leather is lighter than real leather, meaning less lugging for you.
